The City of Goodyear, Arizona is seeking an experienced Public Works Director who will provide strong collaborative leadership and excel in a high-growth, robust and dynamic community. The City of Goodyear is a full-service City with a total FY2023 budget of $650 million and a workforce of 904 FTE’s. Reporting to the Deputy City Manager, the Public Works Director will provide administrative and operational direction as a department head and leadership to a staff of 45. The Public Works Department provides essential services to the City’s residents in the areas of utilities, residential trash/bulk collection and recycling, and stormwater. Additionally, internal services provided to support other city departments include the maintenance of city-owned vehicles and facilities. Oversight responsibilities include facilities maintenance (including Major League Baseball spring training ballparks and complexes), full complement of fleet vehicles (including police and fire apparatus), and solid waste. The ideal candidate will have experience working with a diverse portfolio of property and facilities within the government sector complemented by experience and oversight of fleet and solid waste.
This position requires a Bachelor’s degree and 10 years of experience in Public Works, with demonstrated knowledge in the areas of public and internal services such as Facilities, Fleet, and Solid Waste. A Master’s degree is preferred. Advanced credentials such as PE registration in the State of Arizona (or an out-of-state PE License eligible for reciprocity) may be a plus.
Annual salary for this position is up to $185,355 DOQ. Additionally, the City offers an attractive package including membership in the Arizona State Retirement System. Moving and relocation assistance will be offered to the selected candidate.
