A national search is underway to recruit an experienced water and wastewater professional to serve as the Director of Public Utilities (DPU) for the City of Toledo, Ohio. This is an outstanding opportunity to advance your career by leading one of the most progressive public utility departments in the country.
This Director will manage six divisional managers responsible for Utilities Administration, Water Treatment, Water Distribution, Water Reclamation, Sewer and Drainage Services, and Environmental Services. The divisions are primarily supported by the Water and Sewer and Storm Water Funds with very little General Fund assistance. The Public Utilities FY24 Budget is approximately $230,922,863 million with a total full-time staff of 538. The Director of Public Utilities reports directly to the Deputy Mayor and provides overall leadership and management of the Department.
This position requires graduation from an accredited College or university with a Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Engineering, Business Administration, Public Administration, or a closely related field and at least five years of experience in an administrative capacity for a public utility. The Mayor and his executive team will identify the final candidate for appointment by the Mayor based on a combination of education, experience, and credentials that best fit the needs of the City of Toledo.
