The City of Calabasas has announced that Kindon Meik will be the City Manager, effective March 15, 2021 pending approval by the Calabasas City Council at its January 13, 2021 meeting. Meik replaces Don Penman who has served as interim City Manager since November 16, 2020.

Mr. Meik has served as the City Manager of Corcoran, California for nine and a half years.  During his tenure with Corcoran, Kindon focused on quality of life improvements including the renovation of each of the City’s parks and recently helped secure funding for the development of a new eight acre park.  Additionally, Mr. Meik has been instrumental in ensuring the ongoing financial stability of Corcoran and in 2017 led the initiative to pass a local transaction and use tax to protect public safety, improve and maintain recreation facilities, and safeguard Corcoran’s reserves.  In 2019, Corcoran completed the construction of a state of the art police facility and 911 dispatch center.

“The City of Calabasas is pleased to welcome Kindon Meik into our community,” said Calabasas Mayor James Bozajian.  “The City Council is confident that he has the right background, experience, and temperament to serve as our City Manager.”

“It is an honor to be selected as the next City Manager of Calabasas,” said Meik. “I am eager to begin working with the City Council to implement their vision and goals for the upcoming year.  Calabasas is an extraordinary community and I look forward to helping shape the next decade of the city’s history.”

Prior to his career with the City of Corcoran, Mr. Meik was the Assistant City Manager for the City of Lindsay.  Two significant projects in Lindsay included the conceptualization and construction of a 172,000 square foot sports and recreation facility and the development of a community wellness and aquatic center.

Mr. Meik holds a Ph.D. in History from Florida International University and a BA and MA from Brigham Young University.  While completing his doctoral program, he received a Fulbright Scholarship that facilitated eight months of research in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

Meik and his wife, Angela, are the parents of six children and enjoy spending time together as a family in the outdoors.
