The City of San Antonio is recruiting nationally for a highly experienced Public Works professional with a proven and verifiable track record of leadership with large scale capital projects to serve as the next Transportation & Capital Improvements (TCI) Director. The new TCI Director will report to the Deputy City Manager, Peter Zanoni, and will be directly responsible for a staff of approximately 884 full-time employees, with a FY 2019 operating budget of $209.6 million, and an annual CIP budget of $515 million. The TCI Director is responsible for planning, directing, and overseeing the activities and operations of the Transportation & Capital Improvements Department including the management of all assigned divisions.
This position requires a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an accredited college or university, or engineering school approved by the Texas State Board of Registration for Professional Engineers. A minimum of ten years of increasingly responsible professional experience in the area of public works, including traffic engineering, traffic, capital improvements, and streets and drainage, including five years of engineering work supervising an engineering function is also required. A valid Texas Professional Engineer License is required by the time of application, or equivalent transferable license from another state, which must be converted to Texas Registration within six months following appointment.
