Clark County, Nevada is seeking an accomplished social service professional to serve as its next Social Service Director. The Social Service Director reports to the Deputy County Manager and works closely with Clark County leadership as well as other key regional partners and stakeholders. The Social Service Director has oversight of an extensive portfolio of some of the most critical signature services provided by Clark County in the social services and social welfare arena. The Director operates in an environment where social service programming is influenced by a large growing population base, tourism, and other economic and social influences that may increase demand for current or future programs within the Department’s oversight. Clark County Social Service has a current general fund annual budget of $80 million, multiple year special revenue funding of $134 million, and multiple year grant funding totaling $197 million. CCSS services are provided by approximately 270 staff in the Department working within one of 20 units under the direction of three Deputy Directors. Clark County Social Service (CCSS) provides a variety of services for disadvantaged residents of Clark County who are not assisted by other state, federal, or local programs. The selected candidate for consideration as Clark County’s next Social Service Director must be an experienced social service administrator, well versed in leading and managing diverse social service programs at the executive level.

Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Business or Public Administration, or a field. An advanced degree is preferred. Requires a minimum of 6 years of full-time senior level management experience in the delivery of social services, and must include program planning, evaluation, and supervision of significant subordinate staff. An equivalent combination of formal education and appropriate related experience may be considered.

The salary range for the Director of Social Service is from $142,355 to $220,646 annually (there is no state income tax in Nevada). Placement within the salary range is determined by candidate’s qualifications and experience as deemed appropriate by County Management.
