The next Risk Manager will have the opportunity to reestablish a comprehensive risk management system and make significant safety and financial impacts to the City of Reno. With a population of 241,455, Reno is the 90th largest city in the United States, the largest city in northern Nevada and the center of the Reno-Sparks metropolitan area, which has a population of 426,000. With 1,235 FTE positions, the City of Reno provides a full slate of municipal services across 14 departments. The FY 2019 budget has a General Fund budget of $189.7 million and an all funds budget of $474 million. Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be with a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in business administration, public administration, or a related field; and five years of increasingly responsible experience working in a risk management program including experience for analyzing risk exposures and developing and implementing appropriate risk management responses. The salary range is $99,455 to $128,987 annually in addition to an excellent benefit package, including fully paid retirement through Nevada PERS. Additionally, the State of Nevada does not have an income tax.
