The next Assistant City Manager will have the opportunity to join the City’s new leadership team and lead the good work of the city staff. With a population of 255,601, Reno is the 90th largest city in the United States, the largest city in northern Nevada and the center of the Reno-Sparks metropolitan area, which has a population of 426,000. With 1,285 FTE positions, the City of Reno provides a full slate of municipal services across 14 departments. The FY 2021 budget has a General Fund budget of $252.2 million and an all-funds budget of $514.5 million. Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be with a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in public administration, business administration, urban planning, or a related field; and ten years of progressively responsible management, administrative or staff experience in a business or organization, including four years of department management experience. The salary range is $153,770 to $201,451 annually in addition to an excellent benefit package, including fully paid retirement through Nevada PERS. Additionally, the State of Nevada does not have an income tax.
