The City of Fullerton is recruiting for a highly qualified Director of Public Works to manage the day-to-day activities of the Public Works Department. The new Director will work closely with the City Manager’s Office and will be directly responsible for a Department of 198 full-time employees, with an operating budget of $51.4 million and a CIP budget of $70.0 million. The successful candidate will have a broad background in public works. Ideally this will include project development and design, building and equipment maintenance, fleet management, general and water engineering, and sewer and landscape maintenance. Candidates should have a strong track record of success in managing a multi-faceted organization. This senior-level executive will be results-driven, with well-grounded, ethical decision-making skills, superior interpersonal and communication skills, outstanding public speaking abilities, and must display strong leadership characteristics. A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in civil engineering or related public works field, and 10 years of progressively responsible professional work experience in the field of civil engineering, public works, or a closely related field at an administrative or management level. Graduate level credentials are a plus. An engineering license is desirable but not required. The annual salary range is $136,040 to $204,060.
