The City of Scottsdale is offering a career capstone for an innovative and accomplished leader to step to the helm as Presiding City Judge. Preferred experience includes judicial experience in Arizona, current Arizona State Bar license, and the ability to lead and manage a talented team of sixty-one with a high degree of professionalism, transparency, and ethics that are beyond reproach. The Presiding City Judge is responsible for the executive leadership, direction, and management for the City’s Court System and administering justice in cases involving alleged violations of Arizona Statues and Scottsdale City Ordinances. The Presiding City Judge reports to the Mayor and City Council for administrative and operational matters and to the Presiding Judge for the Superior Court as well as the Arizona Chief Justice of the Supreme Court for judicial matters. The Presiding City Judge is also responsible for overall leadership of court staff and Associate Judges.
Requires a Juris Doctorate, 10 years of recent experience as a lawyer or judge; and Member of Arizona State Bar in good standing. Judicial experience in Arizona is preferred. The selected candidate must live within the municipal boundaries of the City of Scottsdale within six months of appointment.
The salary range for this position is $176,072 to $ 256,006. Benefits, including Arizona State Retirement System, are also offered.
