The Woodlands Township, Texas is conducting a nationwide search for its second President and General Manager since its formation as The Woodlands Township in 2010. Located 27 miles north of downtown Houston in both Harris and Montgomery Counties, The Woodlands has emerged from a fledgling outpost of the greater Houston area to a thriving master planned community where people live, work, play and learn. The Woodlands has over 117,000 residents who enjoy 147 parks, 220 miles of hiking and bike trails, pools, public art, water sport destinations, and signature golf courses – all in beautiful natural surroundings. The FY 2020 budget was recently filed with an all-funds budget of $125.1 million, a total operating budget of $109.7 million, and a Capital Improvement Program of $5.6 million. Minimum qualifications for this position include a Bachelor’s degree from a four-year accredited college or university in political science, business, public administration, or a related field; and ten years of executive level management experience with a broad range of abilities in the management of day to day operational affairs. Five years of experience in managing a minimum of ten employees and administering programs, budgets, recruitment, and public services in a municipality or special purpose district is preferred. While not required, a degree or coursework related to a Master of Public Administration or Master of Business Administration, would be beneficial.
