The award-winning City of Charlotte is recruiting nationally for a Charlotte Area Transit System (CATS) Transit Marketing/Communications Officer. Ideal candidates will be experienced, knowledgeable, innovative, enthusiastic, and highly skilled senior public relations professionals with a proven track record of successful community and media relations. The CATS Marketing & Communications Officer will design and implement strategies that cultivate our relationships with media, engage target audiences and enhance the CATS brand. The successful candidate will be data-driven and effective at creating and implementing marketing programs and strategic initiatives. This position is responsible for the leadership and direction of CATS marketing, public relations /communications, and customer service (MARCOM) divisions to increase awareness, knowledge, and use of CATS services.
Education: This position requires a Bachelor’s degree with an emphasis in communications, journalism, public relations, public administration, or a related field. An advanced degree is highly desirable.
Experience: This executive position requires at least five years of successful top management experience for a major metropolitan area and/or managing marketing/communications for a government agency, public utility, or similar organization. A minimum of seven years of progressively responsible municipal administration, including significant administrative and personnel management responsibilities is preferred.
