The City of Goleta is seeking an experienced local government professional to serve as the General Services Director. The position is responsible for facilities management, maintenance, and improvements; real estate services; vehicle fleet services; information and communications technology; purchasing and surplus property; and other general service programs and activities. The Director reports directly to the City Manager or Assistant City Manager and serves as a member of the City’s Executive Management Team. The Director is responsible for operations, budget, and accomplishing the City’s goals and objectives related to General Services Department and for all aspects of supervising the work of department staff. With a total FY2021-22 budget of $55.1 million and a General Fund budget of $32.2 million, the City of Goleta has 7 departments: City Manager, Legal Services, Finance, Public Works, Planning and Environmental Review, Neighborhood Services, and General Services. The City’s operations and services are provided by 114 full- and part-time employees, supplemented by contractual staff. The ideal candidate will have the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, providing calm, steady, and stable leadership to the Department.

Requires a Bachelor’s degree along with 10 years of increasingly responsible local government experience, including at least 5 years of supervisory experience.

The annual salary range for the General Services Director is $150,193 to $191,609 DOQ. The City offers a comprehensive benefits package including CalPERS retirement. Additionally, the City offers flexible scheduling and a hybrid workplace. Most employees have the option to work remotely up to 3 days per week with 2 days at City Hall.
