The Superstition Fire & Medical District (located east of Phoenix Metro area in the state of Arizona) is recruiting nationally for its next Fire Chief. Appointed by the District’s Governing Board, the Fire Chief is an at-will appointment and serves at the pleasure of the Board. Under the direction of the Governing Board, the Fire Chief oversees a budget of $23.7 million dollars through four divisions, each led by an Assistant Chief or a Director: Emergency Services Operations (includes transport), Planning & Logistics, Administrative Services, and Financial Services. Total staff count is 132 full-time employees and is comprised of 86 suppression personnel, 24 full-time transportation personnel, 14 administrative positions, Training Captain (1), Battalion Chiefs (3), Acting Assistant Chief (1-Operations), Assistant Chiefs (2-Administrative), and the Fire Chief.
This is a contract position and will be supported by a negotiated employment agreement. The annual salary range for this position is $147,403 to $184,134 (DOQ). SFMD also offers a comprehensive benefits package.
