The City of Denton (estimated population of 141,300) is seeking a strong, competent, and highly ethical professional with proven management, analytical, and problem-solving skills to be the Executive Manager of Energy Delivery. Located at the northern tip of a high growth area known as “The Golden Triangle” (formed by the cities of Denton, Fort Worth, and Dallas), the City is a dynamic community whose rapid growth has affected its infrastructure as well as its culture. Denton Municipal Electric (DME) is Denton’s hometown electric provider and has been serving the greater Denton area since 1905. It is the 6th largest municipally owned utility in Texas with a 369-megawatt peak load. DME has 189 positions authorized in the FY 2019-20 budget with budgeted operating expenditures of $229.3 million and capital expenditures of $39.82 million. Any combination of related education, experience, certifications, and licenses that will result in a candidate successfully performing the essential functions of the job is qualifying. A typical way to obtain these qualifications is with a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field; and fifteen years of experience working in the electric transmission and distribution area for a utility, ten of which include demonstration of increasing executive management experience in electric transmission and distribution. Current registration as a Professional Engineer (P.E.) is desired, but not required. The anticipated hiring range will be up to $190,000 annually, DOQ, in addition to a highly competitive benefits package.
