The City of Tracy is seeking an Economic Development Manager who will recognize this great opportunity to lead the City’s economic development portfolio for this maturing city. This entrepreneurial leader will excel in stimulating interest in projects, understanding the complexities of public finance, and driving results through to successful completion. Working collaboratively with the Director of Mobility and Housing, the Economic Development Manager will serve as the point person for the business community which includes a full range of stakeholders (business community, Chamber of Commerce, civic leaders, developers, and the broader community). The Mobility and Housing Department is a new core service provided by the City of Tracy that plans, manages, and oversees the daily functions, operations, and activities of the City’s Mobility Services. The new department is supported by staff of 14 and a FY2023-24 budget of $15.6 million and is organized across four divisions: Homeless and Housing Services, Economic Development, Airport, and Transit.

Requires equivalent to Bachelor’s degree and 5 years of progressively responsible professional level experience working in public sector economic development, land use planning, and/or community development department performing complex project work, or related business management experience in the private sector with responsibility for staff supervision, contract negotiation, project planning and development, marketing, land development and/or economic development. Experience in California with current knowledge of highly technical industries and municipal government is desirable. Possession of a Master’s degree in a related area is desirable.

The annual salary range for this position is $132,002 to $160,449 DOQ. In addition, the City provides an excellent benefits package, including CalPERS retirement.
