The City of Tucson is recruiting nationally for a highly experienced Economic Initiatives Director. The Economic Initiatives Director is a newly created, senior-executive level opportunity. This at-will position is a key member of the City Manager’s Economic Development Leadership team along with other regional and local key stakeholders. The Director will continue to aggressively focus attention on business recruitment and redevelopment.
This position requires a Bachelor’s degree plus a minimum of ten years of executive experience in domestic and international economic development, redevelopment, and business assistance programs, with at least seven years of experience in municipal government. Due to the City’s size, scope, and complexities, broad management skills and a sophisticated approach to economic and business development challenges are essential, including experience in populations of at least 250,000. A Certified Economic Developer (CEcD) or Economic Development Finance Professional (EDFP) is a plus.
