Northwest Mosquito and Vector Control District, located in Riverside County, is conducting a national recruitment for an experienced administrator who can lead the District, which is one of over 70 agencies statewide specifically dedicated to protecting public health from vectors and vector-borne diseases. The District Manager plans, organizes, and directs comprehensive mosquito and vector control programs for the District and administers the policies of the Board adhering to the legal requirements affecting the District and its operations. With a $6.94 million budget for FY 2019-2020, the District has 18 full-time employees organized into the following organizational areas: Administration, Laboratory, Operations, and Public Education along with 5 to 10 FT seasonal positions. The position of District Manager is appointed by the Board of Trustees and will work closely with the Board, staff, and regional and community stakeholders. The ideal candidate will have a broad background in vector management programs and a demonstrated administrative ability of management, public finance, personnel, and organizational skills.
Requires a Master’s degree in a related field. A PhD is preferred but is not required. Additionally, 5 years of significant, high-level management experience in a public agency or private sector firm is required. Experience with scientific applications in entomology, biology, or a related technical field is desirable.
