The City of Palm Springs is offering an exciting career opportunity for a Director of Public Works to p provide operational direction and leadership for facility management services. The Department of Maintenance and Facilities provides maintenance support and management City parks, downtown, medians, parkways, and City owned buildings. The Department also supports trade maintenance programs including electrical, fleet and street maintenance, HVAC, plumbing, and Cogeneration. Serving at the pleasure of the City Manager and general direction of the Assistant City Manager, the Director of Public Works will have oversight responsibilities that include: strategic planning, management of vendor programs and relationships; effective and reliable building maintenance and operations; ensuring compliance with all local, State, and Federal codes; budget development and administration; lead role in crisis management of facilities and contribute to continual improvement of all facility related resources. The ideal candidate will provide visionary and collaborative leadership and will have a track record of successful management experience working with a diverse portfolio of property and facilities with a government agency or large corporate complex.
Requires a Bachelor’s degree and 6 years of direct maintenance and facilities or public works experience which included 3 years of management and administrative responsibility. A Master’s degree is desirable.
The salary range for this position is $146,160 to $196,596 DOQE. The City also offers an attractive benefits package including CalPERS retirement.
