Rich in history, natural beauty, and a charming ocean village atmosphere, Coronado is most deserving of its royal “nickname” – the Crown City. This uniquely enchanting city, which measures 13.5 square miles, is home to one of the world’s most pristine beaches, 18 public parks, an 18-hole municipal golf course, tennis center, marina, public swimming pools, and numerous other recreation facilities and dedicated bicycle paths. The City is governed by a Mayor and four Council members who serve staggered four-year terms. The City employs 249 full-time employees and a seasonal/temporary workforce that ranges between 100 – 200 throughout the year. The City has a General Fund revenue of $49 million, a total operating budget of approximately $93 million, and an underlying AAA rating from Moody’s. Reporting to the City Manager and under the general administrative direction of the City Manager, the Director of Administrative Services plans, directs, manages, and oversees the activities and operations of the Administrative Services Department including the City’s finance and accounting operations, human resources programs, and information systems, as well as serves as the City Treasurer. The Director of Administrative Services will provide advice and consultation to management and the City Council in assigned program areas, coordinate assigned activities with other departments and outside agencies, and provide highly responsible and complex administrative support to the City Manager. The Director of Administrative Services will have at least six years of increasingly responsible professional-level municipal financial experience including at least three years of municipal management and administrative responsibility. Requires a Bachelor’s degree; A Master’s degree is desirable. While finance expertise is critical, knowledge and experience in the areas of Human Resources, Labor Relations, and Information Systems is also desirable. Salary band of $160,800 – $191,900, including CalPERS retirement. The City participates in Social Security and Medicare.
