San Bernardino County is recruiting nationally for a dynamic, innovative, and highly experienced Director of Emergency Management to oversee the day-to-day activities of the Office of Emergency Services (OES). This is an exciting opportunity with a variety of transformational challenges and opportunities for an experienced Emergency Management leader to help improve customer and operational services in a number of key areas.
The Director of Emergency Management must understand the importance of relationship-building with local and regional agencies, and work very closely with the San Bernardino County Fire Protection District, the Sheriff’s Office, and other key internal and external stakeholders. With a staff of approximately 26 full-time employees, this is an exciting opportunity for an energetic and visionary servant leader to provide continuity and strategic direction to enable San Bernardino County to respond to, recover from, and mitigate the impact of natural, man-made, or technological disasters.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Emergency Management, Public or Business Administration, Police, Fire Safety, or a closely related field. Preference may be given in the selection process to candidates with a qualifying master’s degree.
Experience: Four years of experience in the field of Emergency Management at the federal, state, county/ operational area, or local government (city or town) level. This experience should include experience in program management or as administrative/support staff responsible for planning, analyzing, and solving problems of an organization, program, or system. Must possess strong writing skills.
Salary for the Director of Emergency Management is up to $206,689.60 (DOQ), with anticipated 3% annual salary increases in February 2024 and 2025. Further benefit details are available through Ralph Andersen & Associates.
