The City of Denton is conducting a search for a talented, driven, and dedicated municipal attorney to serve as its Deputy City Attorney specializing in Employment Law. The selected candidate will enjoy working for a progressive local government located in one of the most economically prosperous areas in the nation. The City of Denton offers candidates who are driven by professional challenge the opportunity to practice in an environment that will expose them to aspects of municipal law not found in other cities. The City is a full-service city, providing electric and sanitation services that most cities do not, as well as maintaining its own airport. Requires a Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school and five or more years of progressively responsible experience in municipal law, civil service under Texas Local Government Code Chapter 143, meet and confer agreements, state and federal laws regarding labor and employment issues, and the Texas Public Information Act, or five or more years of experience with civil service or labor law from another state, either in a city legal department or in a private law firm. Any combination of related education, experience, certifications, and licenses that will result in a candidate successfully performing the essential functions of the job is considered qualifying. The salary range is $125,000 to $140,000 annually, DOQ, in addition to a superior benefits package.
