The City of Burleson is recruiting nationally for a talented and accomplished candidate with a highly successful track record of inclusive and transparent leadership to serve as Deputy City Manager (DCM). The DCM will be responsible for a traditional portfolio of departments, but the position will also work closely with the City Manager to develop and deliver key projects that are cross-departmental in nature. Serving at the pleasure of the City Manager, the DCM will work with an impressive leadership team and together oversee a capable staff of approximately 400 employees with an annual budget of approximately $150 million. Previously, the Deputy City Manager led the Information Technology, Neighborhood Services, Development Services, Parks and Recreation, Public Works, and Human Resources departments. The composition of departments reporting to the new DCM will be dependent upon the skills and background of the candidate that is selected.
Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Planning, Public Administration or a related field, or a combination of education and experience that satisfies the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities. A Master’s degree in Public Administration, Planning, or a related field is preferred. Five to ten years’ experience in Public Administration, with experience in the supervision of employees. An emphasis on Planning and Economic Development preferred.
The salary for the Deputy City Manager is $175,000 – $200,000. Placement within the range will be negotiable and based on selected candidate’s qualifications and career experience, including an excellent benefits package.
