Suisun City is seeking a new City Manager following the retirement of its City Manager of nearly 13 years. The City Council, likewise, enjoys long tenures. In addition to excellent stability, Suisun City offers immense natural beauty, a strong sense of community, and the opportunity to make significant impacts for a development-focused City Manager in an ideal location in Northern California. The City continues to expand with subdivisions, schools and businesses to support its nearly 30,000 residents. The City’s all-funds budget for fiscal year 2017-18 totals $36.5 million and the City has a total of 167 positions. The next City Manager should have a proven track record of success related to economic development, particularly in the retail and commercial sectors. Prior experience managing in a community similar in size to Suisun City is very important. Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in public administration, business administration, economics, or a related field; along with ten years of increasingly responsible experience in municipal government including five years of management and administrative experience. A Master’s degree is highly desirable. The City Council will consider a salary range for the City Manager position of $175,000 – $225,000 with an anticipated starting salary of approximately $185,000, dependent upon qualifications.
