The award-winning City of Savannah, Georgia (estimated 2020 population 146,440) is recruiting nationally for a City Manager with the courage to lead and has a verifiable and highly successful track record in a full-service local government with finance, public safety, economic development, neighborhood partnerships, and poverty reduction, including creating affordable housing initiatives. The ideal candidate must be a true servant leader of the highest integrity with a reputation for building teams and be strategic with a highly collaborative and transparent style who will help shape the future vision for Savannah. Serving at the pleasure of a nine-member City Council, the City Manager will work with an impressive leadership team and together oversee a capable staff of approximately 2,400 employees with a total budget of approximately $425 million, including a $208 million operating budget.
This position requires a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with significant and responsible executive management experience. A Master’s degree or other advanced degree will be considered a plus. The City Council desires a visionary Chief Executive with significant and relevant experience managing a city or county government with similar scope and complexities. The successful candidate will be required to live within Chatham County.
