The award-winning City of Riverside, California is recruiting nationally for a City Manager with a highly successful career and a demonstrated record of inclusive and transparent leadership in guiding an organization. Working with the Mayor and a 7-member City Council, the City Manager oversees a capable staff of approximately 2,626 with a 2022-23 operating budget of approximately $1.2 billion. Through a skilled leadership team, the City Manager oversees a values-based organization that implements Council prioritized short- and long-term strategies to accomplish the City’s mission and vision. The City Manager is responsible for making recommendations to the Council that result in cost-effective programs that better serve the public, the Council, City departments, and the City of Riverside. The Office of the City Manager oversees the operations of the City’s 15 departments, and is responsible for a wide-range of activities, including managing and directing budget and operations, facilities and asset management, intergovernmental relations, employee relations, and strategic planning.
Requires a Bachelor’s degree in public administration or a closely related field and 10 years of progressively responsible administrative managerial or leadership experience in municipal government which includes 3 years as a director, deputy director, or other senior management level. A Master’s degree is highly preferred and may substitute for two years of the required experience.
