The City of Powell, Ohio, is recruiting for its next City Manager as a result of a pending retirement of a long-standing and well regarded professional. This is an exciting opportunity for an executive to work and live in a safe, quaint, small town atmosphere with the conveniences and amenities of a growing city. The City Council is seeking candidates with municipal government experience who have strong communication and outstanding interpersonal skills to lead this well-run organization. Complementing outstanding people skills, professional expertise will also include the ability to provide strong management and oversight to a small but talented workforce. Future focus on succession planning, including workforce development, community development issues, and organization-wide effectiveness, will be priorities going forward. The 2019 General Fund budget projects total operating revenues to be $8,351,230.
Ideally, this position is well suited for a professional that has significant and relevant senior leadership experience in a government agency. A Bachelor’s degree is required. A Master’s degree and/or certification(s) relevant for this position are strongly desired.
The annual salary offered for this position will be competitive for the region. The final compensation packet offered will be dependent on qualifications, experience, and overall career history. In order to attract a broad array of qualified candidates, the City Council is prepared to also include relocation/moving expenses and temporary housing assistance in order to relocate into the community. Benefits include retirement provided by the Ohio Public Employee Retirement System (OPERS) with the new City Manager paying 10% (employee share) of the contribution. The City does not participate in Social Security.
