With a population of just under 17,000, the community has preserved its small-town intimacy and charm. Residents enjoy neighborhood parks, youth sports programs, and award-winning schools. As a regional center for commerce, El Segundo’s daytime working population exceeds 75,000 with a high concentration of Fortune 500 companies. The City delivers a comprehensive range of municipal services through nine major departments (including police and fire) with approximately 362 FTE and a total budget of over $160 million. This position empowers employees to accomplish the Strategic Plan goals including providing unparalleled municipal services, developing quality infrastructure, promoting economic growth and diversity, and championing fiscal sustainability.
A Bachelor’s degree and 8 years of increasingly responsible professional experience in the planning, organization, coordination, and administration of varied municipal activities, including at least 5 years of management and supervisory experience is required. A Master’s degree in public administration is desirable.
The salary for this position is up to $270,000 annually DOQ. The City Manager is covered under an Employment Agreement and also provided with benefits under the Management and Confidential Group (unrepresented employee group), including CalPERS retirement, deferred compensation plan, annual performance bonus, and auto allowance.
