The Superior Court of California, County of Los Angeles is seeking a skilled and experienced information technology professional to lead and guide the Court Technology Services (CTS) Department (staff of approximately 205) for this large, complex organization. The Chief Information Officer (CIO) is an at-will, executive-level, appointed position. Under general policy direction, the CIO plans, organizes, and directs the activities of the CTS Department and integrates the delivery of Court-wide information technology programs and services to support the achievement of Court mission and strategies. The CIO collaboratively develops and manages enterprise information technology development and implementation for the Court and has overall responsibility for managing, directing, and integrating broad, comprehensive information systems and technology programs for the Court. The successful candidate will have the ability to identify differing user needs; recognize and address areas of bias; discern desired functionality and requirements; and fashion innovative technological and procedural solutions to highly complex situations in a robust and dynamic environment.

External Candidates (not currently employed by Los Angeles Superior Court): Requires a Bachelor’s degree. An advanced degree is a plus. Candidates should have significant and progressively responsible information systems experience, including management and oversight of a medium-to-large technical staff. Direct experience with a court system is highly valued. Other experience in a large university system or complex, multi-purpose organization (public or private) with different funding sources will also be of value.

Internal Candidates (currently employed by Los Angeles Superior Court): Requires 2 years of experience at the level of Deputy CIO or 5 years of experience at the level of IT Manager II.

Other desired experience: Specific experience with Court Case Management System Data integration; large scale and complex technology implementations; experience working in a union environment is highly desired; and/or demonstrated ability to create a culture of innovation across an organization.

Telework Opportunities: This position is eligible for telework, although, at this executive-level, the position will require the ability to attend meetings in downtown Los Angeles within a two-hour travel window from place of residency.

The annual salary range is $220,851 to $343,469 DOQE. Additionally, the CIO is eligible for County benefits and retirement programs including a defined benefit pension program through LACERA and matching contributions of up to 4% to the 401(k) savings plan and 4% to the 457(b) deferred compensation plan.
