Marin County is offering an excellent opportunity for a progressive and strategic leader to act as the Chief Information Officer (Director of Information Services and Technology). Reporting to the County Administrator, the CIO will oversee the Information Services and Technology Department (IST), comprised of 99 budgeted full-time positions and operating on an annual budget of over $22.6M. A key aspect of this position is to lead change, guided by the Department’s strategic plan, which articulates the call for innovations to increase the focus on security and accessibility, an open data initiative to encourage greater civic engagement, and a mobile first philosophy for all IST work to expand access to services and applications. Operationally, the department is at a transition point for future development efforts. The ideal candidate will possess a positive demeanor, high levels of collaboration and teamwork, and strong interpersonal skills to instill trust among peers and staff. This position requires a background or education and experience equivalent to graduation from a four-year college with major course work in computer science, information technology, business or public administration, or a closely related field. Additionally, 5 years of experience managing information technology systems is required with at least 3 years senior-level management experience in a public agency. The annual salary for this position is $184,392 to $203,299 dependent on qualifications.
