The County of Santa Clara is recruiting nationally for an experienced, innovative, progressive, and collaborative California Children’s Services (CCS) Medical Director. With a dedicated team of approximately 100 staff, this position reports to the Public Health Officer and authorizes diagnostic and treatment services while providing medical case management and physical and occupational therapy services to children under 21 with eligible medical conditions. Examples of CCS-eligible conditions include, but are not limited to, chronic medical conditions such as cystic fibrosis, hemophilia, cerebral palsy, heart disease, cancer, traumatic injuries, and infectious diseases producing significant complications. CCS also provides medical therapy services that are delivered at public schools. The CCS budget is approximately $18 million and serves over 6,000 children annually. The ideal candidate will be a progressive, highly experienced Board Certified or Eligible in Pediatrics, Family Medicine, or a related specialty with excellent management, people and communication skills, who enjoys working in a fast-paced and complex environment.
This position requires a valid license to practice medicine in the State of California and a valid DEA certification prior to appointment; and five years of experience as a licensed physician, including two years of management experience in the planning, organization, and coordination of a local government and/or community-based health program that includes one year of experience in an administrative or supervisory position.
Board Certified or Eligible in Pediatrics, Family Medicine, or a related specialty is required. Board Certified or Eligible in a pediatric subspecialty is highly desired.
The salary range for the California Children’s Services (CCS) Medical Director is up to $280,176 DOQ. An outstanding benefit package is also offered, including medical, dental, vision, and life insurances, as well as 36 days of vacation per year. Retirement is CalPERS (2% @ 55 for Classic Members and 2% @ 62 for New Members). Moving and relocation expenses are included in the employment offer.
