The City of Benicia is currently seeking qualified candidates for the position of Assistant Finance Director. Reporting to the Director of Finance, the Assistant Finance Director plans, organizes, manages, and oversees the daily activities and operations of about 4 staff members, including: payroll; budget development and implementation; accounting and revenue management; internal and external audits; debt financing activities; investment and bond management; revenue collections; financial reporting; and grant functions. The City operates on a two-year budget cycle with a General Fund (including transfers) of approximately $42.7 million and Total All City Funds budget of approximately $76.3 million. The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge and experience of accounting principles, preferably with a local government as well as managing/supervising the daily operations of a finance department including utility billing, accounts payable and receivable, revenue collections, and payroll. This position requires a Bachelor’s degree and six years of increasingly responsible experience, preferably in a government agency, including two years of supervisory responsibility. CPA license is highly desirable. The annual salary for this position is $110,343 to $134,125. Compensation is comprised of base salary ($108,180 to $131,502) and deferred compensation of 2% contribution. For PERS Classic members, the City also pays 3% EPMC if eligible.
