The County of Marin is conducting a statewide and national search to attract highly experienced public works professionals for the positions of Assistant Director (Engineering) and Assistant Director (Business Services). These new opportunities have been created at the executive level due to the recent selection of a new Director of Public Works and the subsequent organizational restructuring. This more results-driven structure addresses both the technical side of public works and the business side, allowing for a more effective and efficient delivery of diverse services. The Department administers a variety of programs including capital improvement, disability access, and engineering projects; maintenance of county roads and buildings, communications facilities, and vehicles; flood control, watershed planning, land development, and permitting; as well as general service functions such as accounting and administration. Both positions report to the Director of Public Works and will provide leadership with teamwork and collaboration as their fundamental core.
The Assistant Director (Engineering) is an at-will, executive level classification providing administrative oversight and policy direction to engineering units of the Department of Public Works. This position requires equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university with major course work in civil engineering or a closely related field and 5 years of engineering experience which includes two years of supervisory, management, or administrative experience. Possession of registration as a professional engineer in the State of California is required at time of submittal.
The Assistant Director (Business Services) is an at-will, executive level classification providing administrative oversight and policy direction to specified divisions of the Department of Public Works. This position requires equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university with major course work in business or public administration, management, engineering, planning, or a closely related field and 5 years of experience, which includes experience in an assignment related to the work and two years of supervisory, management, or administrative experience.
The annual salary range for the Assistant Director (Engineering) is $164,923 to $181,480. The annual salary range for the Assistant Director (Business Services) is $156,770 to $172,848. The County also offers an attractive benefits package, including MCERA Retirement.
