The City of Palm Springs is seeking an Assistant Director of Maintenance & Facilities. With a staff of 49 employees and an approximate FY budget of $17 million, the Department of Maintenance & Facilities provides maintenance support and management for City streets, parks, downtown, medians, and parkways, and City owned buildings and vehicles. The Department also supports trade maintenance programs including electrical, plumbing, HVAC, cogeneration, and automotive. Serving at the pleasure of the City Manager and general direction of the Director of Maintenance & Facilities, the Assistant Director of Maintenance & Facilities will provide operational leadership for the daily operations of facility services. Oversight responsibilities include: strategic planning; management of vendor programs and relationships; effective and reliable building maintenance and operations; ensuring compliance with all local, State, and Federal codes; budget administration; assisting in crisis management of facilities; and contributing to continual improvement of all facility related resources. The ideal candidate will have experience working with a diverse portfolio of property and facilities with a government agency or large corporate complex. Requires a Bachelor’s degree and 5 years of increasingly responsible maintenance, facilities, or public works experience including 2 years of experience at a management or policy-making level with supervisory responsibility for management and professional staff. The annual salary for this position is up to $125,436 DOE/DOQ. The City also offers an attractive benefits package including CalPERS retirement.
