The City of Denton, population 147,825, is conducting a national search for a talented, progressive, and dedicated recreation professional to serve as its next Assistant Director of Parks and Recreation. The selected candidate will enjoy working for a progressive local government located in one of the most economically prosperous areas in the nation. Reporting to the Director of Parks and Recreation, the Assistant Director of Parks and Recreation is responsible for assisting leadership in the administration and supervision of the Recreation Division. The Recreation Division is the most diverse group in the Parks and Recreation Department and consists of Aquatics, Athletics, Leisure Services, and Beautification, Education and Events Services (BEES). Any combination of related education, experience, certifications, and licenses that will result in a candidate successfully performing the essential functions of the job is qualifying. A typical way to obtain these qualifications is with Bachelor’s degree in in Parks and Recreation Administration, Business, Public Administration, or a related field; and, ten years of progressively responsible experience in Leisure Services, Recreation Administration, or a related field. A Master’s Degree is desired and can substitute for two years of experience. The anticipated hiring range will be $87,923 to $145,952 annually, DOQ, in addition to a highly competitive benefits package.
