The City of Lake Forest, California is conducting a state-wide search for the position of Assistant Director of Community Development. The dynamic individual chosen for this position will be responsible for providing highly responsible and complex management support to the Community Development Director in planning, directing, managing, and overseeing the activities and operations within the Department in addition to hands-on project management and implementation of the City’s General Plan. This position is responsible for leading and overseeing professional and technical planning staff.  The ideal candidate will have strong project management skills and substantial experience with mixed and high-density use development projects with exceptional communication skills and the political acumen to work successfully with the City Council and Planning Commission on challenging community issues.

A Bachelor’s degree in urban planning, public administration, or a closely related field of study is required. This position requires a minimum of 5 years of increasingly responsible professional level planning experience including 3 years of management or supervisory experience. AICP Certification is required. The City of Lake Forest is offering a competitive salary of $123,924 – $161,112, DOQE.
