The City of Simi Valley (pop. 126,366), the third largest city in Ventura County, is conducting a national search effort to seek highly qualified individuals for consideration as the new Chief of Police. The ideal candidate will be a flexible, hands-on law enforcement executive, able to lead and effectively manage a mission and goals-driven Department focused on results, as well as positive relationships. The Police Department consists of 121 sworn and 59 non-sworn personnel with a current budget of $28.2 million. The Chief will continue to promote community crime prevention/suppression awareness by maintaining and strengthening a partnership with the community to anticipate and resolve concerns. Current or prior California law enforcement experience gained through a career in a community with similar issues and complexities is essential. Bachelor’s degree is required with course work in criminal justice, police science, public administration, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred. The City of Simi Valley offers a highly competitive salary of up to $166,693 with an excellent executive benefit package including CalPERS (3%@55).
