The City and County of San Francisco is seeking a dynamic and accomplished individual to serve as Recreation and Parks Director, providing leadership of this celebrated City’s varied parks, playgrounds and outdoor space. With management of a $136 million budget (staff of 1,000), the ideal candidate will be a well-rounded executive committed to providing day-to-day oversight and implementation of a $150M bond program. Strong management and interpersonal skills combined with an open leadership style that values public input in the Department’s strategic direction are vital for success. The ideal candidate will be an uncommon leader known as a person of incredible energy, devotion to public parks and focused on public service to an active and involved citizenry. A Bachelor’s degree is required; a Master’s degree is preferred. Minimum of 10 years of significant, high-level management experience for a large public organization is desired. Starting salary range to $198,822 annually with additional funding available based on qualifications and experience. Excellent benefits package including retirement (non-PERS).
