The Port of
Los Angeles (Port), Southern California's gateway to international commerce,
is located in San Pedro Bay, just 20 miles south of downtown Los Angeles.
The Director of Legislative Affairs coordinates legislative representation
and oversees all in-house and contracted lobbying efforts in both California's
state capital (Sacramento) and in Washington D.C. The legislative team
also works closely with the Los Angeles City Council and staff, and
the Mayor's Office of Intergovernmental Affairs. The Director of Legislative
Affairs assists in establishing the Harbor Department's legislative
priorities and the legislative team will analyze proposed policy, draft
position recommendations and regulatory strategies, and take necessary
steps to implement the strategic legislative objectives of the Port.
Bachelor's degree and significant experience dealing with legislative
affairs, preferably at the local level for a public agency, is required.
Salary range for this at-will position is $128,954 to $160,212 (effective
July 2008) and benefits package including retirement.
