The Port of Los
Angeles (Harbor Department) is seeking a seasoned, contemporary manager
with a significant supervisory background overseeing a high-performing
professional and technical staff engaged in supporting the information
technology requirements for the Port through mainframe and server-based
applications and infrastructure. Information from the mainframe and
65+ servers is distributed to Port users via a LAN and WAN network infrastructure.
Technical support is provided to the Port’s administration building
and 8 remote Port office locations, which includes approximately 1,500
equipment connections, 11 routers, 22 switches, 3 firewalls, 14 broadband
connections, 2 frame relays, and 3 network monitoring locations. The
Port’s Information Technology Division orders, repairs, installs,
and relocates all personal computer equipment and provides mobile, landlines,
and broadband telecommunications support. Graduation from a recognized
four-year college or university with a Bachelors Degree in information
systems, business administration, public administration, or other related
field is required. The ideal candidate should possess at least five
years of progressively responsible management experience directing the
operation and maintenance of complex information systems. Knowledge
of telecommunications is a plus. The annual salary range for this position
is $128,954 to $160,212. Advanced step placement is subject to experience
and current salary.
