The City of Norfolk, Virginia is seeking an experienced, hands-on Director of Human Services, with strong leadership, communication and interpersonal abilities. This at-will executive level position reports to the City Manager and oversees 546 employees with an operating budget of $60 million. The City’s population is more than 234,000. The Department of Human Services is a multifunctional agency that strengthens children, families, and individuals through the provision of social services, behavioral care and juvenile justice services. Specific services include benefit eligibility determination, case management, childcare, workforce and youth development, and other programs for children, youth, elderly and the disabled. Requires a Master’s degree in public or human services administration and at least eight years of management or administrative experience in relevant program areas. Salary range for the position of Director of Human Services is $86,070 to $148,838 with an outstanding benefits package. Placement within the salary range will be based on the candidate’s qualifications and experience.
