As a result of a pending retirement, the Los Angeles County Employees Retirement Association (LACERA) is seeking highly qualified candidates for the position of Chief Legal Counsel. Serving as the general counsel to LACERA, this highly accomplished individual provides legal advice and counsel to the Board of Retirement, Board of Investments and to the staff of LACERA. Reporting directly to the CEO, the Chief Legal Counsel plans, directs, and evaluates all operations of the Legal Division including oversight of a highly qualified and experienced departmental staff (16 FTE). Candidates should have a verifiable record of success in complex administrative matters, advisory services combined with direct experience dealing with retirement system law. Experience in the public sector is strongly preferred although candidates working in the private sector with demonstrated experience working with public agencies are also strongly encouraged to apply. Candidates must have a Juris Doctorate degree from a fully accredited ABA law school and active membership in California Bar.
