This is an exciting career opportunity to lead a special district protecting the health, safety, and economic well-being of 1.7 million people, over 30,000 businesses, and countless community organizations in Alameda, San Mateo, and Santa Clara Counties. The Bay Area Water Supply and Conservation Agency (BAWSCA) is a unique organization of 26 local water agencies in the San Francisco Bay Area, which are all long-term wholesale purchasers of water from San Francisco. The Chief Executive Officer/General Manager (CEO/GM) will oversee this well-run organization with a total staff of 7 and a FY 2012-13 operating budget of approximately $2.7 million dollars. BAWSCA also administers subscription water conservation programs totaling about $1.5 million per year, and approximately $1.5 million in State water conservation grants. The new CEO/GM will be following a long-tenured leader, and BAWSCA’s Board desires highly qualified candidates who will build on the track record of excellent results that currently exists at BAWSCA. The Board desires that rare individual who is able to establish instant credibility, has exceptional analytical skills, and is politically astute. Above all, the CEO/GM represents the water interests of the BAWSCA member agencies and their water customers. This position requires a Bachelor’s degree plus fifteen (15) years or more of leadership in a municipality, special district, or other government or private sector. A Master’s degree is strongly desired. The salary range for this position is highly competitive with executive-level benefits, including CalPERS retirement.
