The Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority (MWAA) is conducting a national search for a highly-experienced fire service professional to lead and advance MWAA’s Fire & Rescue Department’s (FRD) mission as the new Assistant Fire Chief. Reporting directly to the Fire Chief, the Assistant Fire Chief manages one of the service areas (Emergency Services or Support Services) of the Airports Authority FRD. The FRD is a full-service department providing fire and rescue services at Ronald Reagan Washington National and Washington Dulles International Airports; in addition, FRD is a partner with other regional departments in protecting the National Capital Region. With an operations budget of roughly $27 million, the FRD has a total staff of approximately 189, of which approximately 137 are EMS trained personnel, including 27 personnel trained to the EMT-Paramedic level. Position requires 3 years of progressively responsible experience as a Deputy Fire Chief or 5 years of progressively responsible experience as a Battalion Fire Chief. A Bachelor’s degree is desired but not required. A competitive compensation package will be offered including excellent benefits.
